Many of Guy Begbie’s books are bound using both traditional and less conventional techniques. However, he makes other unique works, folded paper engineered forms and book structures that parody the codex book format.
These works combine paper and cloth based bindery materials with cast elements in plaster, beeswax and lead. These sculptural book objects are made using methods to enable the examination of parallels between book and architectural structures.
These works are intended to conceptually investigate ways in which the book form may hold and contain the experience of buildings and the landscape.
